Portfolio

My illustrations are primarily a mix of cut paper, linocut printing, and watercolor. I love the action, depth, and vibrancy I can create with the texture of a cut edge, a slightly imperfect print, or by layering different papers. I approach negative space with intentionality, hoping to use sparse or simple backgrounds to invite readers in and let the work breathe on the page. My illustrations and words act in concert to make each story stronger and help them resonate with my readers. I want to create something that makes them come back to it over and over again or think about it long after they’ve returned the book to the shelf. Most importantly, I hope each image conveys a sense of playfulness, love, and respect for the children I write for and about.
